The Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) was founded in 1965 and focuses on researching new technologies. Major projects and implementations conducted at the Institute included the manufacture of ASEA-licensed industrial robots, installation of a robot-operated welding line at FSO Warszawa, and development of INTELEKTRAN, a system of modules and apparatuses for analogue electric automation.
